Metrika is the nom de plume of Diego Cevallos, a young face who has already made a serious impression on the world of international electronic music with releases on Damian Lazarus’ renowned Crosstown Rebels imprint, as well as German labels Sunset Diskos, Eintakt and multiple labels from Mexico City. Diego’s remix work includes several Rock and Pop artists from Latin America including Gustavo Cerati, Natalia Lafourcade, Songs For Eleonor, Motel among others. Cevallos’ productions incorporate a sly sense of micro-sampling, which uses snippets of voice and field recordings to build a recurring and often infectious bed of rhythm. In this regard, Metrika is the harbinger of a new generation of sample-driven house music currently finding its way into circulation. Diego’s work with close friend Gabo (Digi + Gabo) still remains a cornerstone in Mexican electronic music and will come back soon for a third and much anticipated album. When playing live Metrika is characterized by his now famous subsonic basslines and funky rythms that guarantee madness in the dancefloor. He ?s a fan of cooking, cooking shows, dogs, plants and skateboards.
