Playa del Carmen, Mexico may not be our most obvious hub for deep house.Saying that, once a year it is.Home to Central America´s only (decent) international dance music festival, BPM, it´s welcomed the creme of the crop of the house & techno circuit to its  white beaches for 10 days each January since 2007. Coincidently (or not), Akbal Music, run by Mexicos´s Robbie Akbal, has been, also since 2006, up -and-running as a high-end deep house label,realising the likes of The Midnight Perverts, Afrilounge, and Hector since its inception, proving that ¨Playa¨ now has a scene it can proudly call its own. This five-year commemorative mix by Robbie Akbal & Muan, presenting cuts from Jonny White, Death On The Balcony and Wildkats, glides as a tightly-knitted collection of melodic house gems. ¨Nocturnal, sun-kissed and downright funky, it´s the perfect soundtrack to a beach party in paradise¨.

From their homebase Brazil, the new combo TOUCAN, consisting of Bernardo Campos and Olliver Mach, send us some fine tunes over to set us into the right mood just in time for the spring. The two are each quite famous in the scene of Rio - together they combine their strenghts to unleash their debut "STRANO CAMERA EP" with some amazing deep house vibes on AKBAL MUSIC. Like a toucan the three-track EP spreads out its wings and takes us with it on its flight. The tracks are all starting off with a pleasantly laid-back beat. These floating beats form the background for the tracks.
